NAB Updates Retail Branches

Key points

  • Dedicated Fraud and Extra Care specialists now based in Cairns branches

  • Face-to-face help for customers dealing with scams and financial hardship

  • Specialist support, financial education and community connections in one place

NAB has launched a new Community Hub across its four Cairns branches, giving customers direct access to dedicated Fraud and Extra Care specialists in one place, without being passed from person to person to get help.

In Cairns, more than four in five referrals to NAB's specialist support teams are linked to scams and fraud, while financial hardship remains another key reason customers seek help. By basing those specialists across local branches, customers can access support earlier and closer to home.

NAB Group Executive Ana Marinkovic said the Hub was designed to connect customers with the right people before a challenge becomes a crisis.

"Whether someone has been targeted by a scam, is under financial pressure or dealing with another difficult situation, they can now sit down with the right people earlier and get support tailored to their circumstances," Ms Marinkovic said.

"These challenges often overlap. By having our specialists work side-by-side, they can see each customer's situation more clearly and find the best path forward sooner."

NAB Extra Care Specialist Nikita Hunita said being a Cairns local means he knows that behind every customer is a neighbour, a family or a local business owner.

"People rarely remember the paperwork or the process. They remember how they were treated when things were tough.

“When someone comes into the Hub, our job is to listen without judgement, understand what's happened and help them find a way forward. That's where having specialist support in the community can make a real difference," Mr Hunita said.

Alongside one-on-one specialist appointments, the Hub will offer education sessions on scam awareness, money management and financial wellbeing. The first session will be held on [date TBC].

The Cairns Community Hub is part of NAB's broader branch investment program, with more than $10 million invested into branches for Queenslanders this year.
