Creating a new payee or biller - NAB
Why follow this guide?
- To save time when creating repeat payments by having the payee or beneficiary details ready.
Make sure you’re logged into NAB Connect to get started
- From the Payments menu select ‘Payees and billers’. The ‘Payees and billers’ page will display.
- Dependent on the payment type, select the relevant button at the top of the Payee list:
- Add Domestic
- Add International
- Add Biller
- Complete the required fields as detailed.
Add Domestic
- Select the ‘Payment type’ you will be using to pay the payee and complete the required fields.
- For Domestic payment type, enter the Nickname, Account name, BSB and Account number then select Verify account details.
- You’ll see a result showing whether the account name matches the details held by the payee’s bank.
- You have the option to enter the Payee Address (optional) and Reference (optional).
- Select Save.
Direct Credit, Payroll, Executive Payroll, Direct credit GDES
- For Direct credit, Payroll, Executive Payroll or Direct credit GDES, enter the Nickname, Account name, BSB and Account number then select Verify account details.
- Select Transaction type from drop-down list.
- Select Save.
Add International
- Enter Nickname, Name, Address and Country.
- Enter Purpose of payment and Payee’s bank details.
- Identify if payee’s bank requires a SWIFT code (BIC) or bank name and address then select either the Bank name and address or SWIFT code (BIC) option under ‘Identify bank with’. Enter the Bank name and Bank address or enter the SWIFT code.
- Select Code type (optional) from drop-down list, then enter the Local routing code.
- Select Save.
Add Biller
- Enter the BPAY biller name or code in the Search biller field to select the biller you want to add.
- Enter the Customer reference number (CRN) for standard billers. This is mandatory for standard billers as the CRN is the same for each bill. Variable billers don’t have a CRN field as the CRN changes with each bill.
- Enter the Biller nickname. This is optional.
- Select Save.
Please note:
- If you require the same payee across payment types, i.e. for domestic and direct credit, you will need to create separate payees for each payment type.
- Each payee name (payee nickname) must be unique because duplicate entries are not accepted.
- To create a new payer for Direct Debit, select ‘Payer List’ from the ‘Payments’ menu and ‘Create payer’ to input the details.
- To create a new BPAY Biller, select ‘Payees and billers’ from the ‘Payments’ menu and ‘Add Biller’ to input the details.
- You can also create payees when creating a payment. See the payment articles to learn how.
