Gender equity at work | Reducing the gender pay gap - NAB

Supporting gender equity at work

Empowering women is an important element of how NAB supports our employees, serves customers well and helps the broader community prosper in an increasingly global marketplace. We’re signed up to the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles established by UN Women and the UN Global Compact.

Our workplace gender equity objectives

We’re focused on reducing the gender pay gap and having a 40% to 60% gender balance throughout our business, including our Board and Subsidiary Boards. This target is 20% flexible for any gender to promote gender balance and inclusion for colleagues outside the binary.

Executive Management

NAB Board

Workforce

31% of executive management are women.

NAB Board

67% of NAB non-executive directors are women.

Workforce

48% of the workforce is female.

You can view NAB's measurable objectives, approved by the Board, on the Corporate Governance website.

We’re focused on fairness

We’re committed to fair and equitable remuneration for all employees, consistent with our market and performance framework. We actively address barriers to equal pay for all genders.

Our leave options are inclusive of all genders and, for eligible colleagues, include:

  • 16 weeks paid parental leave, regardless of gender
  • Four weeks paid gender affirmation leave
  • 10 days paid carers leave per year
  • Pregnancy loss leave
  • Pre-natal/pre-adoption leave of up to one week.

We believe it’s important to recognise the interdependencies at play when it comes to equity. There was a reduction in the average gender pay gap to 14.0%, down from 14.9% in 2025. While the NAB pay gap is lower than WGEA’s benchmark for the banking industry at 15.1%, there is much work to do to meet our 2030 target of a less than 10% gender pay gap.

With heightened expectations for every team to implement strategies to support female representation, NAB continues to deliver initiatives including Business and Private Bank’s 1500 Degrees Program. The nine-month program is designed to prepare women for more senior roles through learning, networks and sponsorship opportunities.
